Traveling with a Purpose: Help Us Build Hope in Tanzania!
During my recent trip to Tanzania and Zanzibar, I had the incredible opportunity to travel with a purpose through an amazing group called Rails and Sails Vacations. While the safari scenes were breathtaking — lions, wildebeests, elephants, giraffes, and more — what truly touched my heart was the resilience of the people and the needs of the communities we visited.
Our group distributed solar lights, school supplies, water filters, clothing, and food to families living in villages in Arusha and Zanzibar. Before the arrival of water filters, 1 in 3 children in rural Tanzania did not live past the age of four due to bacterial infections from contaminated water. Seeing these realities firsthand was life-changing.
While there, I met Nuru Marcos, a young father and tent attendant, who shared that his community in Arusha (Osunyai ward of Olturoto) had started building a community gathering center — a safe place for families to meet, learn, and shelter. Unfortunately, construction stalled two years ago because they could not afford the $6,000 needed for a roof.
That’s where my nonprofit, QUACKS — Quorum of United and Concerned Kids, comes in.
Founded on March 4, 2021, QUACKS was created to uplift distressed communities by supporting families and children one at a time. In the past, we’ve proudly funded tuition for local students. Now, we’re turning our attention globally — helping Nuru’s community complete their gathering center and build a stronger future.
Whether it’s $5, $25, or $50, every donation brings us closer to raising the roof — literally.
Every gift, big or small, makes a difference.
All donations are tax-deductible (EIN: 86-24133669).
